Privacy Policy

TaperCheck is a styling preview tool. You upload a photo, we generate haircut and beard previews of your own face, and you decide what to do with them. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, what we do with it, who else touches it, and how to get it deleted. Last updated 1 June 2026.

Who we are

This site is operated by TaperCheck, operated by Jidoka Corp(“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the information described here. We process personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. To contact us about anything in this policy, use our support page.

What we collect

Your email address — to sign you in with a magic link and to manage your account and credits.
Photos you upload — the image you provide so we can generate a preview of your own face. These can show your face and likeness.
Previews we generate — the result images created from your photo.
Payment information — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details; we keep a record of the purchase and credit balance only.
Basic usage data — minimal technical logs needed to run the service securely and fix faults.

What we do with it

We use your photo solely to generate the preview you ask for. We use your email to sign you in and support you, and payment records to manage credits and refunds. We will not use your uploaded photo or your results for marketing unless you explicitly say yes. We do not sell your data, and your photos are not used to train AI models for unrelated purposes.

How long we keep your photos

These are the retention windows the product actually applies:

Rejected uploads(e.g. a photo our checks won't accept) — deleted within about 2 hours.
Your uploaded photo — deleted within about 24 hours, unless you choose to keep a history.
Generated previews — kept for 7 days so you can download or show them, then deleted, unless you choose to keep a history.

Your account record and purchase history are kept while your account is active and for as long as we need them to meet legal and accounting obligations.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:

Supabase — account, database and secure storage of uploads and results.
fal.ai — runs the image model (SeeDream) that generates your preview from the photo you upload.
Stripe — payment processing.
Resend — sends your sign-in and account emails.
Vercel — hosts the website.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards required under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent. To delete your uploaded photos, previews, or your whole account, ask us via the support page— we verify your account email first, then delete the private files. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and run the service. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

TaperCheck is intended for adults. It is not directed at, and should not be used by, children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy materially we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Questions? Contact support.
