The service

TaperCheck, operated by TaperCheck, operated by Jidoka Corp, lets you upload a photo and generate previews of haircut, beard and shaved-head styles on your own face to help you decide what to ask for. It is a styling preview tool, not a medical service. It does not diagnose hair loss, predict hair changes, or recommend treatment. Speak to a qualified clinician for medical advice about hair loss.

Accounts

You sign in with a magic link sent to your email. Keep access to that inbox secure — anyone with it can access your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.

Credits, payments and refunds

  • Previews are paid for with credits, purchased through Stripe.
  • If a preview fails to generate for a technical reason, we return the credit or grant a replacement — you don't lose anything for a fault on our side.
  • If a result is clearly wrong — it changes your face, ignores the cut you asked for, or comes back as obvious wig or helmet hair — contact support within 7 days for one replacement credit.
  • For billing questions we check the payment record before changing anything.

Acceptable use

You agree to upload only photos you have the right to use, and not to:

  • upload photos of other people without their consent;
  • upload illegal, abusive, or sexual content, or images of children;
  • attempt to misuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or scrape the service;
  • use results to impersonate, deceive, or harm anyone.

We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

Your photos and your results

You keep ownership of the photos you upload. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process your photo and generate your preview. Your generated previews are yours to use for personal grooming decisions — show them to your barber, compare styles, or save them. We will not use your uploaded photo or result in marketing unless you explicitly say yes. Photo retention and deletion are covered in our Privacy Policy.

No guarantee of accuracy

Previews are AI-generated approximations to help you picture a style. They are not a promise of how a real cut will look, and results depend on your barber, your hair, and your photo. The service is provided “as is”.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, TaperCheck is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for grooming or styling decisions you make based on a preview. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date above. You can stop using the service and request deletion at any time via support.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England & Wales.
